This week, I had the chance to see my husband play soccer for the first time! Believe it or not, even though we are the soccer family that we are, I have never seen him play a full game with a team before. He recently joined a men’s league, and I think he has really been enjoying himself. The manager of his team offered for our two oldest boys to play as well, so it was a treat to see all 3 of my guys play together. It was so hot out this day, I did not take many pictures. (I was using my hands to shield the sun most of the time! lol) Anyway, here is Carlos on the left, Jose in the middle and Carlitos on the right. It was fun to watch them play together. I hope this will be a good bonding experience for them. I am grateful that he has coached our children in soccer over the years and it is nice for him to be able to play soccer himself.
Here is a pic that I snapped of the rest of my crew, while we watched the game.
For family home evening this week, I made Vanilla Wafer Treats. They were a hit with my kids. Click on the link to read more about them.
During the week, I had the cutest, most handsome cashier take my order for dinner. 😀
Yep, that’s right. Carlitos got his first job last month! This was the first time we had been in to see him on the job. He seemed to be doing great. He was all smiles and very welcoming. Not just to us, but to the people before and after us as well.
I also made these Chex Cereal Treat Bars for a snack one day this week. They were yummy!
Our sweet little Emily started soccer for the first time this week! Another believe it or not, with the soccer family we have, Emily did not start playing soccer herself until a few weeks after her 6th birthday….although she has been going to soccer games since she about 4 weeks old!
Can you guess who her coach is? Her beloved daddy is, of course! It is kinda funny, we will even sometimes ask David who his soccer coach is going to be when he gets older. He responds with a big grin on his face, “Ah, I think daddy!”
It is like our younger kids grew up from a small age seeing their daddy coach their older siblings, so they automatically think that their daddy is going to be their coach too.
This picture is probably my favorite one from her first week of practice. Carlos is tying Emily’s shoe while still directing the other kids in what to do, and he is doing it all while looking so cool and relaxed! Way to go daddy!
Here is a shot of Emily at the front of the kicking line. This drill was to have the kids pass the ball to their coach. Then they start running for a pass and once they get the ball back, they are to take a shot at the goal.
So, one evening this week we were having a bbq for dinner. While Carlos was setting up the bbq, some of the kids were playing outside.
As I was bringing things outside to set up for the bbq, Emily looked so cute playing with her barbies. She has such a good imagination. She told me that her dolls were climbing in the jungle. 🙂 I went back into the house to grab my camera and take a picture of her playing. I want to have plenty of “picture” memories of each of my children. Not just the big moments like birthdays & sporting events, but also these sweet but simple moments.
I am certainly glad that I went back in for my camera, because after I was done taking Emily’s picture, I looked over at Carlos & David and they were just so sweetly enjoying each other’s company while waiting for the coals on the bbq to heat up. I snapped another quick one and got this sweet father-son picture. 🙂
Here are just a few other pictures from the bbq. I thought Emily and David looked cute sitting these little logs.
A few other goodies from this week include: Ashley had a fun scrimmage with another local team on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, Carlos took Jose on a father-son outing. They got all of Jose’s school shopping done! Way to go guys! Plus they bought me a new jacket since the zipper on the one that I have had for 7 years broke. Thanks guys! 😉 The men’s league team had another game on Saturday evening and they won 3-0.
Today for church, we left the house by 9:06am….that means we got to upgrade and sit in the over-flow area instead of the gym…and Carlitos was able to bless the sacrament. Yay! We have not been getting there early enough for him to be able to do this. I have been trying to focus on the positive instead of the negative lately. Thinking of little things like getting to church on time and Carlitos getting to bless the sacrament are things that help motivate me to stay positive. 😉 If we spend the day thinking of the things that didn’t go right and whose fault it is etc, we can’t have a very positive outlook on things.
