This gift is a wonderful idea for a great grandma.
After browsing gift ideas for my grandma for Christmas, I didn’t find anything that quite fit. So, I decided to make something for my grandma, who of course is my kids’ great grandma. I went to the store with an idea of what I was looking for. I knew that I wanted to make her a sign that said, “Great Grandkids make Life Great.” Now, I need to mention that there are plenty of similar signs out there. This is not my original idea, but I put my twist on it. Most of the signs I’ve seen have been geared towards grandparents, not great grandparents. Also, a lot of the signs say, “Grandkids Make Life Grand.” Those are good ideas for grandparent gifts, but I wanted something to specify the special fact that my grandma is a great grandma to 11 great-grandchildren! This is why I went with the saying, “Great Grandkids Make Life Great.”
I went to the store with an idea in mind, but I was not quite sure if I would find the right supplies. We live in a small town and do not have a craft supply store like Michael’s or JoAnn’s. Here is what I got. Two sheets of stickers, some jute cord/twine, mini clothespins and a sign. All of this came out to a little over $8 dollars!
This project was fairly easy to make.
I made sure to firmly press the stickers down. I actually was short on one of the capital “G’s.” You can see that the word “great” does not have a capital “G.” I went ahead with what I had. ?
I had my husband help me drill the holes for the jute cord. Then we simply tied small knots at the ends of the cord (behind the sign).
Last, I added the mini clothespins. Then I put a few pictures on to see what it looked like. I didn’t give my grandma these pictures with it though. When my grandma came to visit this week, I gave her this gift along with some extra mini clothespins. After all, she has 11 great-grandchildren, and there is one more on the way!
I guess it was a hit, because my husband told me that my grandma sent us a text message with a picture of her new sign and some of the photos that she hung on it. My grandma said she loved it!
