If you have little ones who like to help in the kitchen, this is a healthy kid friendly snack for you to make together. It is pretty much a self-explanatory recipe, but we included some pictures and the simple instructions below. ?
Ingredients:
- Strawberries
- Pineapple (canned or fresh)
- Bananas
- Grapes
Utensils:
- Skewers
- Cutting Board
- Knife
- Step 1 – Cut your fruit into chunks. You’ll want to make sure the chunks are think enough to stay on the skewers.
- Step 2 – Get your kids and your skewers ready!
- Step 3 – Start putting your fruit chunks onto the skewers.I told Emily to try to make a pattern with the fruit. (A good skill for a 5-year-old) Here she is double checking her pattern of grape, strawberry, pineapple, banana.
- Step 4 – When your skewer is full of fruit chunks, enjoy your fruit kabob! If you are using wooden skewers you can cut the tip off of the skewer, before giving it small children.
As you can see, these kid friendly fruit kabobs do not disappoint at our house.;-)
Emily and I had fun making these together. It was easy prep and easy clean-up too! We make these fruit kabobs a lot during the summer time, when there is a better variety of fresh fruit available. When we made these yesterday, it was 34 degrees out and that was probably the high for the day! Everyone likes little reminders of summer during the winter, right?
Anyway, in the summer we turn them into rainbow fruit kabobs, and do the following:
- Red – strawberries
- Orange – cantaloupe
- Yellow – pineapple
- Green – kiwi or green grapes
- Blue – blueberries
- Purple – blackberries or red/purple grapes
- Bananas are white…but we always put them on our kabobs anyway. ?
Whatever fruit you choose to put on your fruit kabobs, they will come out great!
