We spent another wonderful week together enjoying our school work and our play together.

I miss Jose so much!!! I know…I just saw him last week….but I can’t help it!

Carlos’ dinner getting packed up for him to go to work tonight.
After I put these little cuties to bed, one after the other, they came out with their favorite bears in tow, to use the bathroom and get an extra hug.
I love how they have a favorite stuffed animal that they sleep with. I felt like I should take a few pictures of them with Mr. Cuddles and Share Bear. After putting them back to bed, I texted a picture to Carlos. It turned out that it was just what he needed, seeing those sweet faces, as he had been having a hard night at work.
Wednesday, April 29th
Now that the girls are older and with the fact that they have been enjoying new hair style Mondays, they decided to start sisters hair styling Wednesdays.

Thursday, April 30th ~ Dia Del Niño
Today was probably the most exciting day this week for the kids. Dia Del Niño is a holiday in Mexico where children are celebrated. Many times there are piñatas and fun activities for children to do with their families or at school.
However, first we did homeschool for the day. David has been learning about insects this week. We made playdough bugs for a fun hands-on activity.
David made the yellow bumble bee, Ashley made the orange spider and Emily made the blue caterpillar.
A little bit before Carlos went to work, he surprised the kids with some fun stuff for Dia del Niño!
Here Carlos is teaching the girls how to play the Mexican card game, while they enjoy their paletas and jarritos.
Next it was time to get ready to walk 2 blocks down the hill. The teachers and staff at Emily’s school usually celebrate Dia del Niño at school, but with the unusual circumstances of there being no school, teachers and staff decided to celebrate the kids by doing a honk and wave procession. During art time earlier today, we decided to make signs for the teachers as they drove by.

It was pretty cool to see all the teachers drive by and honk and wave. Many of them had their cars decorated and were tossing candy out their windows for the kids. Em and David received many compliments are their signs too.
Last, but not least April was my month for a mommy-daughter date with Emily. It had completely slipped my mind. Lucky for me, Emily cares most about the time spent together.
I asked Emily what she wanted to do and she picked barbies. So we played barbies for 2 hours before bed and she loved it!
Friday, May 1st
Ashley also made a sign in art class yesterday. Next week is teacher appreciation week. I took a picture of her with her sign today and the pictures will be compiled into a slideshow for the teachers at her school to see.
In the evening time, Emily and David put on this little skit. My mom had these batons that she gave to the kids sometime last year. Jose’s girlfriend Isabella is in color guard, so naturally Emily likes to pretend she is doing a color guard routine.
We finished up our Friday evening by making sugar cookies for May Day and watching the movie A Bug’s Life, to complete David’s pre-k week of learning about insects.
