Weekly Post Idea

I have been thinking and have decided to make one weekly post about our family’s week, instead of making individual or daily post. It is kind of hard for me to find the time each day to upload pictures and make daily posts. So, here it goes……..

Monday, October 31st ~ Halloween

Today I helped out at Emily’s school for the Halloween festivities. It was fun seeing all the kids dressed up in their costumes. I loved how the teacher kept them learning throughout their party. She read them lots of books, they graphed their costumes into 4 categories, they did some counting, and did a taste test (salty, sweet & sour). She also taught them how pumpkins grow. Their was a costume parade around the school and the kids also did trick-or-treating.

Here is Ashley in her costume. She is dressed as a “cute” witch. In the evening, we took the kids trick-or-treating. It was raining, so we didn’t go to very many houses. One place that we do always go to on Halloween, is to visit my friend Linda. She worked for the scholarship program, that helped me earn money for college. That is how we met. She was kind of like a mom to me back when I was in high school. Anyway, we always go visit her and her husband Brian on Halloween. Linda makes up little treat bags for the kids and usually has pizza and apple cider for everyone. By doing that, we don’t have to do very much trick-or-treating and we get to visit with each other which is nice. Linda took a family picture of us while we were at her house, but I didn’t take any pictures. Next year, I will have to make sure to take some pictures. ?

The foodball kickoff was today. Every November our community competes against our neighboring town to raise money and food for the local food banks. It is a great way to stock the foodbanks before Thanksgiving and Christmas. They kick things off by having the high school band march down the street playing music while other students knock on doors asking for money or food donations. dsc01412I finished up rearranging the girl’s bedroom this today.  I started this task earlier in the week, but knew that it would take me a few days to complete. I did the whole deal, dusting, vacuuming, organizing etc. It felt good to get it done, and the girls always enjoy having their room set up in a new way.

Saturday, October 5th

Ashley had her last soccer games of the season today. I have to say that it was not the best weather for a double-header!

Her first game was noon. Ashley is the one with the #1 on her jersey. I was interested to see this game because Carlitos was the referee for the game, and I have not seen him work as a center ref yet.

My husband has one of those pop-up shelters or canopy tents, for rainy day games. Which is nice for the team…and for me and the little ones too. Well, at this game, there just happened to be this puddle right next to wear we were set up to watch the game. After watching another girl play in the puddle, my two little ones were all over the puddle as soon as the little girl was done playing in it. At first, I kept trying to get them away from the puddle and back under the canopy. It would work for a few minutes and then they would be back at it. I finally decided to let them have fun and explore, instead of getting upset about it. They definitely enjoyed that puddle. The problem was that they were soaked from the knee down and this was a double-header game day!
