Who doesn’t love summertime? We have absolutely loved it this year!

Happy 9th birthday to my sweet Emily Grace! I knew when she was born, that my time with her was precious. It is hard to believe she is now half way to 18 years old. She started off her birthday with these surprises in her room. Next, her lunch of choice was waffles with strawberries & blueberries and bacon on the side. We also heard from Elder Juarez today. Emily’s birthday landed on his P day for this week.
It is always good to talk with this young man! After lunch, Carlos continued filling up the pool that my mom, Jeff and Alex got for the kids for their birthdays, while I cleaned up and the kids played outside. Next, Emily opened her presents and then it was pool time!!! Carlos, Emily and David also picked some zuchinni from our little garden.
I’m so thankful this little lady is a part of our family. She puts a smile on my face everyday. I’m glad she is my daughter. 🙂

I had felt overwhelmed today with plenty of things to do…..as I’m sure most mothers do at times. Jose and Jonny were coming up to visit Emily for her birthday. I had planned to do this fun birthday spa for Emily, (yesterday) and I had not had the chance to set up yet. Plus I had 7 lbs of blackberries that we picked on Sunday, that I needed to do something with ASAP….not to mention the regular to-do’s, such as cooking, laundry, cleaning the kitchen, family scripture study etc.
Although I had been a little stressed, it turned out to be a nice day. The boys came up. Dylan surprised us and came too (but I didn’t get a pic of him.) We all visited for a while and then they played clash royale. While that was going on, Ashley helped me set up the spa area for Emily, and it was a hit!
Ashley and David also joined in the fun. Even Jose said that the foot spa looked good lol. Once Carlos was off to work for the night, and after I had made a quick trip to Safeway, and when the boys were gone, and after dinner…….. the kids did my nails too.
And yes, I did get to those blackberries. I made 2 batches of freezer jam, one cobbler and some muffins. I froze the last 3 cups or so…. I was getting tired. Then I retreated to the family room and folded laundry until 1am. Although I was on the go all day, it was a good day and a lot of things were accomplished.

Well, you can guess what we had for breakfast….anything blackberry!
We took the day pretty easy. I had lots of laundry to put away. The kids spent a lot of time outside swimming. Here are my little country girls down below. I have never seen them as tan as they are this summer! They like to hang out on their daddy’s truck. The other pic is David and I relaxing that evening.

Grandpa David & Elena’s present came in the mail today. Yay Emily!
She asked for a pair of head phones. I think these will come in handy for homeschool next month.

Emily and I went on a mommy – daughter date today!
We picked up some breakfast and ate in the car. Then we went to the store, where I picked up a few groceries and Emily used some of her birthday money. We finished up by taking a drive and doing Emily’s 9 year old photo shoot.
I love photographing Emily! We had a great date too! I’m lucky to be her mommy. When we came home, we had lunch and then the kids hit the pool. We are loving this warmer weather. I don’t mind if the kids get soaking wet either. (Although we have been washing a lot more towels lately.) I would rather have them wet, outdoors and having fun, then inside in front of electronics all day.
Later that evening we played The Game of Life. David had triplets and he ended up winning the game.
We had a fun night. Pic 1 was of David when he named his fish, “goldie.” Pic 2 was when David had triplets. LOL his face expression.

These sleeping beauties fell asleep during family scripture study tonight. Love them!
Sunday, August 16th
Today we had a zoom meeting for church, where a new bishopric was announced. We will miss the old bishopric and are excited for the new bishopric. My dear Grandma Evelyn had been on my mind lately. She will be turning 90 soon. So, the kids and I made two videos for her to let her know we are thinking of her. Here is one of them:
Today the tempature almost reached 100! To beat the heat, Carlos took the kids, Jose and Belle out on the boat and they enjoyed cooling off in the water.
Yay for summer!
You sure have an eye for photography. I love reading your blog (your a good writer too). Keep the blog rolling. Love you all.
