Looking for fun ways to give money as a birthday gift? This what we did for one of my sons on his 16th birthday. All you will need is balloons, streamers, tape, a needle and maybe some tacks….and of course the money that you plan to give the birthday boy or girl.
My son had some friends over and he was opening his birthday presents in the living room. We had the balloons set up in the breakfast nook area of our kitchen. (He did not know that the balloons were there.) The last present he opened was a small gift box with a needle inside. After opening it, we told him to go in the kitchen and everyone followed.
They came into the kitchen to find this. A simple birthday sign and sixteen balloons being held to the wall by party streamers.
Here is what I did to make this:
- Roll up a bill and slip it into a balloon.
- Then blow up the balloon and tie it.
- Hang up streamers diagonally and some straight across. Make sure not to hang them too tightly in order to leave space for the balloons. (I used tape, but later on ended up using a few tacks because I had two streamers that kept falling down on one side.)
- Place the balloons between the streamers against the wall. You may have to play around with it a bit. After you get all your balloons in their place, you can add an extra streamer for support, if needed.
Once we were all in the kitchen, he knew what the needle was for. At first he thought he had to find the balloons that had money. Soon after popping a few, he realized that they all had money in them and he started popping them faster. My son was not expecting this and I think he really enjoyed getting his birthday money this way. This ended up being a really fun way to give money. If you are looking for a fun way to give money for someone’s birthday, you should try this out!
