February, Week 1

Monday, February 5th

Knowing that this was going to be a crazy week, we decided that we should have a nice FHE. It was my husband’s turn for the lesson and he did a great job and brought the spirit into our home. He did a lesson on choosing to serve a mission, as well as being able to do missionary work at any age. For treat / activity, I decided to let the younger kids do something fun, because I knew I would be quite busy this week, and probably would not have time for fun little activities. We made snowmen!

Fun times for these guys!

Thursday, February 8th

My grandma drove 2 hours to come and spend the week with us this week. She arrived on Monday and stayed through Friday. You see, I had a training that I needed to take on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, 8am-4pm. I desperately needed someone to watch Ian and David. If it were just David that I was looking for a sitter for, it would not have been hard to find someone, however with Ian I don’t really know anyone who is both comfortable and has the time to watch him all day for 3 days in a row. Grandma came to the rescue! Seriously, I don’t know what I would have done this week without her.

This picture of her and Carlitos was taken the night before she left. I think they were able to spend some nice time together and were able to get in a good talk or two. Plus, I am planning something for Carlitos’ birthday and I need pictures of him with some of his favorite people. 😉

Carlitos also had a HOPE Squad training at his school this day. He has been quite active in school activities during his senior year. It is nice to get a glimpse at what he is doing.

Friday, February 9th

Today, Carlitos was able to go to a conference with his Leadership Class.

For me, after a busy week of being away from the house all day at my training and helping with homework and doing laundry etc. in the evenings, I was ready for a day to be at home, catch up on chores and spend time with David. However, we had one more thing that was out of the ordinary from our family’s regular routine. We took a 3 hour road trip to the airport.

It was there, that we said goodbye to the guy with the ticket in his hand! Yep, my hubby and my kids’ daddy! It is only goodbye for 8 days, but it felt like it was going to be much longer than that! Emily and Ashley cried. David was sad, but I don’t think he completely understood what was going on. I had already cried a couple of times this week and I cried again when I returned home from the airport. Why were saying goodbye to him? Well, Carlos flew to Mexico to visit his family. Many of them he has not seen for at least 12 years. He has 8 nieces and nephews to meet! Saying that we will miss him is an understatement. We have never been apart for this long before, let alone being so far away from each other. I hope that he has a nice time. I can’t wait to hear tales from his trip and see some pictures!

Saturday, February 10th

I didn’t end up staying at home all day, but I did do something fun with kiddos. We had some sunny weather, so I decided to take the younger kids out and do a fun photo shoot for Valentine’s Day.

Love between a little brother and a big sister. 🙂

We did not have much luck with group shots. It was pretty chilly outside and David kept saying, “I’m coldy!” I can tell that Emily is cold in this picture too. I hurried them back to car after a couple of group shots, so that they could warm up again.

I will end this post with this little piece of sisterly love!

  1. Sue knows about it. I don’t think Marge or Sallie do. Feel free to tell them, if you would like.
