This sweet young lady came over to our house to ask our son Jose, if he would go to tolo with her. It was so cute. You could tell that she was nervous.
Once you answer all the questions and put each answer together to form a sentence, it will read: Will you go to tolo with me? Then Tauni made a little area for Jose to mark yes or no. You can tell that she put a lot of time into making this poster for him. It was very sweet of her, and you can see that he put an “x” in the yes box!
Here are a few close-up pictures of the poster.

Tuesdays I am usually pretty busy with housework. Here Ashley is, reading to me as I was straightening up Ian’s room. Anyone recognize this book? Many times she does her reading on her own. However, she was beginning to read Little Town on the Prairie and she wanted to read it to me, because she knew how much I enjoyed reading those books with my mom when I was growing up. 🙂
Wednesday, January 31st
David and I went on an unexpected mommy-son date today. We had an appointment to get David’s pictures taken and some out-of-town errands to do, and my mom came over to stay with my brother Ian. Therefore, David and I had a little fun. First stop was Barnes and Noble. I love to stop there when I can, but it can be hard to do sometimes with family of 8. I was a little sad to see that many of the chapter book series that I read when I was growing up, were not available or were scarce. For example, there was a small American girl section, but many of the books were about current American girls. Those are nice and my girls do enjoy those, but I also like the books that teach them about what it was like to be a girl during certain parts of history. David was absolutely in love with the Thomas the Train set. He was only able to play with it for a few minutes and he thoroughly enjoyed that time. I bought him a train to add to his small collection. He picked out a train named Hugo.
Next up was David’s appointment. He did very well, even though they were running behind schedule and most of the time was just spent waiting. We took a couple “selfies” while we were waiting. Our appointment was at 11:30 and we were not done until 1:15.
Needless to say, we were pretty hungry afterwards. We went out into the mall and found the nearest thing to eat, which meant that David tried his first pretzel. He did pretty well, he ate about half of it! Then he went on a ride, he picked to ride the motorcycle. Last, we stopped and played at the little play area in the mall. I really enjoyed my time with him. I liked how he was happy with the littlest things. After that, it was off to get David’s foot measured and then to the craft store.
Back at home, Ashley had brought home her January reading medal. The kids who read 24 books or more during a month are recognized with a gold medal at the end of each month. 🙂
Lately, I feel like I can’t get over David and all his cuteness and little 3-year-old tendencies. I keep trying to capture them, as if it will help me save a little piece of him. I think it is hitting me hard that I don’t have any babies anymore. Just look at that sweet, sleeping angel face!

Basketball season came to an end tonight. The season was alright. In league standings, the JV team had 4 w’s and 4 l’s.
Saturday, February 3rd
Here are Carlos, Emily and Ian at dinner. (A treat from my grandma, Evelyn) Our Christmas gift from her was a little money to go do something fun together as a family. When the kids were younger, we would go somewhere like chuck e. cheese. As they got older, we would go to the movies. This year we were going to go to the movie coco, but with my surgery being 3 days after Christmas, we didn’t make it to the theater while it was still playing. With our wide age-range and attentions span of viewers, we didn’t find a good movie to watch. So, we settled on dinner instead. It was a nice evening out.

My husband surprised me by offering to make dinner tonight. I had some pre-sliced carne in the refrigerator…..I think it was calling his name! 😉 Anyway, he took a picture of the meal that he made for us and here it is. He also shared his testimony in church this morning, which left tears streaming down my face. I love him so much and am proud of him and all that he has accomplished and overcome.
