Last, First Day of School

Today was Carlitos’ (last) first day of school!

Yep, he is officially a senior now!

Carlitos got up early and went to go watch the sun rise with his senior class. While he was gone, my husband came home from work because his co-worker was home sick. (On their line at the mill they are a team. So when one doesn’t work, neither does the other.) For me it worked out perfect and was meant to be because that meant he would be able to give our kids Father’s blessings before they went to school. Carlitos kind of seemed a little upset this morning and just wanted to get out the door. However, after his blessing he seemed more at ease and that smile of his came back. He gave his dad a hug after. I love how that works! Carlos let the boys drive his truck for the first day of school too……an added bonus. Since, he was going to be home for the day, he decided that he would do an oil change on the car that Carlitos usually drives.

Jose is a junior this year. He had a Father’s blessing as well. I hope they have a good first day back to school.

After these few quick pics, I headed back inside to finish things up with the younger kids. Next, the girls had their Father’s blessings. I always love how this brings the spirit into our home.

Here is Ashley’s picture. She was super excited. She loves school and she loves learning. I hope this never changes about her. 🙂

Here is Emily Grace. She was excited as well, but also a little nervous. She is still kind of shy at school. Ashley was the same way when she was younger.

Since Carlos was home on the first day of school, he was able to walk both girls up to their classrooms. This is something he has never been able to do before because he starts work at 6am.

Carlos and I walked Emily to her classroom together. The three of us were hand in hand, just the way she likes it. This time I remembered to get a picture of Emily with her teacher.

Once we were at Ashley’s school, Carlos walked her in to the building. He was able to meet Ashley’s teacher. Ashley said that it felt awesome to have her daddy walk her in on the first day of school.

Here are a couple of after school pictures of Christian and Emily. (Sometimes I watch Christian after school.) They both started taking the bus home from school this year. Last year I picked them up everyday, so this is a new routine for them. I wanted to capture some pictures of Emily getting off the big yellow school bus! 😉 When I was little, those steps seemed so big!

Even though my oldest is a senior, I still miss the kids when they go back to school. I hope this will be a great school year for them.
