Pumpkins

Yesterday was a busy Saturday, just like most Saturdays are for us during the fall. We headed out early to drive down to the district championships for cross-country. It is a little over 2 hours south of where we live. Carlitos did a good job. He placed 37th out of 73 runners. Carlitos rode the bus home with the team and they all went to lunch together. Jose had a soccer game 1 hour north of where we live, so we were going in opposite directions. He rode with other teammates to the game, where they won their game 11-1.

On our way home, we stopped for lunch and did a little shopping for the kids. Next up was Ashley’s soccer game. It poured out, but the Soccer Cubs did a great job. They won their game and Ashley scored her first goal of the season. On the way home from the game, Carlos said we could stop at the pumpkin patch. The kids were very excited!

Here is Emily. She was the first of the kids to get out of the car. She was very happy to be at the pumpkin patch. I love her hair in this picture. It is getting so long and her curls are very pretty.

What can I say? The kids love posing for pictures at the pumpkin patch. ? (Ashley is still wearing her soccer uniform lol)

Here are the two pumpkins that we picked out. They are really big! The girls enjoyed washing the pumpkins in the tub.

One of the things I love about the pumpkin patch is the beauty of it. I love how the area we live in looks during the fall.

Today we went to church. Once a month we have a fast & testimony meeting, where members are invited to bear a brief, heartfelt testimony. There were some good testimonies and insights shared today. I noticed that the 4 that stood out to me the most were shared by 4 people who are all at different stages in life. (A man in his 50’s, a man with a young family in his 30’s, a 17-year-old girl and a 3.5 year old little boy). I love how at church everyone comes together from all walks of life and all different ages, to do one thing….to remember and worship Christ. My eyes don’t always tear up, but today they did. We finished up by singing, “How Great Thou Art.” This is my husband’s favorite hymn. Even our son Jose joined in singing, which was nice. (He usually doesn’t sing.)

After a Sunday afternoon lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches, it was time to carve pumpkins.

David said, “Dirty!” a few times, but he kept going for more. I think their favorite part is cleaning out the insides of the pumpkins, rather than the carving part. ?dsc01397Here are the finished pumpkins! What a wonderful fall weekend!
