Back to Blogging
Hey Ya’ll it has been a while! I started this blog to kind of keep a weekly record of what our family has been up to and to also give our family members who live far away a chance to catch up with what we’ve been doing. With everyone staying home to lessen the spread of COVID 19, I thought there is no better time to get back to blogging, then right now! To all our family members…this will at least give you something new to read each week. I hope it helps to brighten your day a little. 🙂
Monday, April 13th
We brought back “new hair style Monday!” This is something I used to do with Emily when she was in preschool in 2016. On Mondays, we would try out a new hair style. Ashley decided she wanted to try Dutch Braids.
She loved them! I have done French braids before, but this was my first time doing Dutch braids. Below are some oldies but goodies of Emily from 2016.
That evening we also received a wonderful e-mail from our dear Elder Juarez. He was recently appointed district leader. This picture is from their district meeting done over zoom.
They are still hopeful and faithful that Heavenly Father’s work will continue to press forward, despite the challenges with the coronavirus.

Emily and David had asked to borrow my phone. I assumed they wanted to use the timer to take turns on the swing. When I looked at my phone later on, I found these little surprise videos on them. Sorry in advance if you follow me on Instagram…you may have already seen these. 😉
They melt my heart! Oh….and yes they are still in their p.j.’s at 1 in the afternoon…..ha ha! The things we get to do during the stay home stay safe order. 😉
That evening before Carlos left for work he made the kids these sweet icy drinks. David liked them so much he asked me to take a picture of him with his drink. You know I almost never say no to taking pictures!
Wednesday, April 15th
For homeschool pre-k David has been working on his letters. This week’s letter is J. Here are his letter J items. // Ashley in her favorite scripture reading spot.
Friday, April 17th
Homeschool journal writing – I’ve been encouraging the kids to write in their journals during this unprecedented time. One day their children might find it fascinating to know that one year the last 3 months of school were canceled and it was hard to find toilet paper at the store!
Our Friday evening consisted of a picnic in the Livingroom and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu!
Saturday, April 18th
Emily and David were playing the Wii. I look over at David, right as he walks over to this box and gets in! LOL
Earlier I had started packing away out winter hats and gloves in that box. I guess it was a cozy place for him to play.
Ian needed a hair cut so Carlos improvised. What a nice brother-in-law. Ian loves his hair cuts and likes to get one every 6 to 8 weeks tops!
Ian did well even though this is not his usual way to get a haircut. I wonder what he thinks about us staying home all the time.
Carlos taught the girls how to set up a tent. They really enjoyed it. Then they built a little fire and roasted hotdogs. Ian really enjoyed the hotdogs. The kids were super excited to campout in the yard.
I made these cheese cake cupcakes with an apple topping for dessert that night.
I’d say they were a hit as all 17 were gone in less than 24 hours! I’m hoping to share the recipe soon.
Sunday, April 19th
We got a video call from Elder Juarez this evening. He and his companion Elder Nickle had been teaching a young man named Donovan lately.
Today he was baptized! How awesome it is that the Lord’s work is still going forward during this difficult time. They look great….and Elder Juarez is wearing the tie we sent him for Easter!
So glad your doing this again. The pictures melt my heart. I miss you all so much. Please keep blogging. Love, love you all! This quaretine is about to get me down. I go out to the grocery store, and occasionally like every two weeks get a burger from my favorite Nipps. I usually find things to occupy my time but the days are long and lonely.
You were one of the main people on my mind when I decided to get back to blogging. Hang in there, Grandma! Carlos and I have already been making some plans to hopefully visit you and a couple of other fun activities we’d like to include you in, when this quarantine is over.
